Homework

Homework will be assigned Monday through Friday.  These assignments are expected to be completed for the next school day unless otherwise indicated in the Agenda or on the Assignments page of this web site.  All work is to be kept in the students' Math Binder until instructed to remove after a "binder check."

Quizzes

Quizzes will be given often to check on the concept comprehension.  Most quizzes will be announced; however, students may expect to complete "pop" quizzes.

Tests

Tests may be given at the beginning, middle, and end of units.  The "beginning" tests, when given,  will be used to collect data to compare to the end of the unit test.  Middle of the unit tests are not very common but can occur.  All tests are announced with clear directions given for concepts to be covered.

Class Participation

It is understandable that at the beginning of the year, students might feel a little hesitant to ask or answer questions during class.  That being said, it is still expected that students will participate fully during class discussions and activities.  Participation does count in the quarter grade.

 Class Preparation

Got pencil?  Got pen?  Got books?  Got binder?  Got homework?  Got brain?  Students should come to class prepared with all needed supplies.  This, too, is part of the grade!

Grading

  • Homework will be totaled at the end of each quarter and counted as a test score (worth 2 units in the total grade)

  • Quizzes will be averaged and counted as 1 unit in the total grade

  • Tests will be averaged and counted as 2  units in the total grade

  • Class participation and Preparation will be averaged and count as 1 unit in the total grade

Been sick or absent from school?

It is the student's responsibility to talk to me on the day of return (either before or after school) about missing assignments and to collect any necessary handouts.  For an excused absence, students are given however many days they were absent to make up the work.

Confused?

Come get extra help most mornings (Monday - Friday) 8:00 - 8:30 a.m. for extra help.   Additionally, students are encouraged to attend the test prep extra help sessions when offered.  Check this website for weekly updates on extra help sessions.
